Young lifesavers Jy and Caitlin off to the Championships

JY Timperley and Caitlin Callahan from Byron Bay Surf Lifesaving Club have been named in the Australian Youth Lifesaving Team to compete at the International Surf Rescue Championships in September in Maroochydore.

Jy and Caitlin's selection in this team follows outstanding results in the Australian Surf Lifesaving Titles held in April this year.

Although both competitors are only under 16 they achieved outstanding results in this year's Australian Tittles in the U17 age group, with Jy 2nd in the Under 17 iron person and Caitlin 3rd in theU17 single ski and she was also a member of the girls Taplin team finishing 3rd.

Jy and Caitlin will compete in a 3 test series against other international teams such as New Zealand, Japan, South Africa USA and Great Britain.
