Young guns' chance to earn Ashes berth in Champs Trophy

PROMISING young West Australians Mitchell Marsh and Nathan Coulter-Nile will have the chance to press their World Cup claims after being included in a 15-man Australian squad for next month's Champions Trophy tournament in England.

Chairman of selectors John Inverarity said both players had shown enough promise in domestic competitions to suggest they could match it against the world's best one-day players.

"Mitchell's season was interrupted by injury, but there's no doubt he has the potential to perform strongly at international level," Inverarity said.

"Nathan has played a T20 international for Australia and we are looking forward to seeing him take his very good domestic limited overs form onto the world stage."

Inverarity also said players like Steve Smith, Aaron Finch, Moises Henriques, Ben Cutting and Shaun Marsh had come under strong consideration.

Australian has drawn alongside England, New Zealand and Sri Lanka for the tournament wehich starts in Cardiff on June 6.

Australia's first match is against England at Edgbaston on June 8.
