Helping cancer survivors through yoga
BEN O'Sullivan has seen first hand what it's like for someone's world to be turned upside down by cancer.
Last year Ben witnessed his 80-year-old grandmother go through chemotherapy to fight breast cancer.
The yoga instructor is now focused on helping cancer survivors, by leading a support group that sees him teach yoga.
The volunteer is taking part in Cancer Council Queensland's c-vivor program, which offers a gentle yoga class to those who have been impacted by cancer.
The first yoga class was held on April 15 and is focused on getting survivors active again as well as having a place to come for support.
"The group activity aims to build emotional and spiritual strength through the practice of soft breathing exercises and meditation."
"The class is suitable for all ages and fitness levels and will consist of really simple, gentle movements," he said.
Ben is happy to volunteer his time and believes yoga can really make a difference.
"Everyone who I've ever met that does yoga has improved with wellbeing, physically and mentally."
