Byron Bay Sevens

In front of a big crowd at the Recreation Ground on Sunday, Southern Cross University X-Rats were crowned Byron Bay Rugby Sevens champs, defeating defending champions, Uprising Beach Resort, from Fiji, 38-21 in the final.

After a tight first half, the X-Rats proved too hot to handle in the second half and they took the $4500 winner’s purse.

In the women’s final, Brisbane-based Eastsyde beat the Papua New Guinea Defence Force side 36-0.

The men’s plate final was won 29-26 by Brisbane Fiji over Sunnybank.
