Wrestling a smash hit in Ballina
IT’S body-slamming, bone-crunching, sports entertainment.
IWA Pro-Wrestling is bringing its action-packed show to the Ballina RSL Club tonight, and promoter and wrestler Mark Mercedes said it was going to be a lot of fun.
He has been wrestling for more than 15 years, including with the big boys in America and Japan, and he says watching a live pro-wrestling show is a lot different to watching it on television.
“We are a family-friendly show,” Mercedes said.
“We have lots of zany characters, and it’s just going to be two hours of non-stop excitement.”
Co-promoter Tyrone Townsend said they had performed more than 350 shows across Australia.
“We offer a fantastic live action adventure show for all ages,” he said.
“Perhaps the biggest difference between pro wrestling and real sport is that pro-wrestling openly admits to glorifying
characters and embellishing storylines.”
Tickets for tonight’s IWA Pro-Wrestling show are $18 for adults and $13 for children under 16. Doors open at 7.30 with the show to start at 8.
The show will include heavyweight matches, tag-team matches, high flyers and much more. It also uses elements of theatre, music and comedy.
Phone the Ballina RSL Club on 6686 2544 to book.
