World-class Stoyle only needs sponsor

ALTHOUGH Buderim's Dimity Stoyle has officially secured a place on next year's World Championship Tour, surprisingly she is still yet to secure a sponsor.

Following a strong season, the 150cm dynamo has claimed second place on the ASP world (qualifying) rankings and will make her world tour debut in 2014, after narrowly missing out last year and in 2011.

Stoyle started the season well with a fifth at the Burleigh Breaka Pro on the Gold Coast before winning the Hunter Ports Women's Classic in Newcastle.

Three 13th-place finishes followed - at the Roxy Pro, Super Pro and the Swatch Pro - before she claimed second at the Pantin Pro, Spain, in August.

Stoyle's parents continue to support their daughter's world tour dream.

With that dream now a reality, Ron Stoyle said he was confident his daughter would snare a sponsor in the coming months.

"Well, for her not to have a sponsor is not ideal, but we are not too worried about it," he said.

"With her now on the world tour we hope that someone will get on board, because she deserves it.

"I'm sure it will happen at some stage."

Ron said the family was ecstatic about the world tour berth for Dimity.

"She has worked really hard for this and we are very proud of her and what she has achieved," he said.

"She's over in the Maldives at the moment surfing, so it's not a bad life, is it."

Hawaii's Carissa Moore claimed the Women's World Championship title on Monday, ahead of Australia's Tyler Wright (second) and Sally Fitzgibbons (third).

Australian five-time world champion Stephanie Gilmore finished in fifth place.
