Woman allegedly set alight by man, 67

A MAN will appear in court this morning accused of deliberately attempting to burn a woman at an Edmonton residence.

It is alleged about 6.30pm last night the 64-year-old woman suffered burns to the left side of her body after an accelerant was poured near her and lit.

The woman was transported to a hospital in Cairns for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries.

A 67-year-old Edmonton man has been charged with one count of acts intended to maim and one count of endangering property by fire.

He is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today.

The man and woman are known to each other.
