WATCH: Truckie captures driver’s ‘stupid’ decision

A TRUCK driver has captured the moment a car driver decided to take on a semi-trailer, swerving in front of the heavy vehicle on a busy highway.

Gatton-based company Nolan's Interstate Transport posted the video on its Facebook page, warning the driver to expect a visit from the police.

"To the driver of this car, your details and stupid behaviour have been reported to the police, with a copy of this footage," the post read.

The video shows a Mazda hatchback swerving in front of the truck before hitting the brakes repeatedly.

The driver then swerves across both lanes of the highway, narrowly missing a car overtaking it.

The incident occurred on the Hume Highway in a northbound direction.

Nolan's transport director Darren Nolan said the footage was worrying.

"I think any footage or any poor driving behaviour, whether it's from a car or a truck, is scary," Mr Nolan said.

"These drivers are professional drivers and they hope to never come across these incidents on the road but at times they do and just have to deal with it."

He said while the footage was scary, it was thankfully a rare occurrence.

"We don't deal with it on a daily basis, this particular one is what we'd consider to not be the norm," he said.

He hoped the video would spread the message we all shared the road, and it was everyone's responsibility to keep it safe.

Facebook users were quick to chastise the car driver, and praise the truckie.

Anita Taylor wrote "I hope the police have been able to get that driver off the road!"

Tammy Maree Heathcote agreed. "What an absolutely the worst kind of driver. Hope the police find them and take their licence."

John Yardley praised the truck driver. "I may have nudged him … take my hat off to the driver for his patience … it happens far too often."
