AN L-plate driver has been arrested after he was filmed driving into a motorcyclist on a busy road in North Adelaide.

Footage has emerged of a black Volkswagen Golf ploughing into the Harley Davidson motorcycle on Jeffcott St at 3.45pm on Saturday and sending both rider and bike sliding into a parked car.

The driver drove away from the scene but was located a short distance away.

The rider was treated at the scene and taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with minor injuries.

A 26-year-old Burton man charged with acts likely to cause harm, failing to render assistance after an accident and contravening the conditions of a learner's permit.

A police spokeswoman said officers dealt with poor and dangerous driving depending on the circumstances.

"Drivers who encounter aggressive driving behaviour are urged to stay calm and continue to drive safely," the police spokeswoman said.
