WATCH: Attempted robber grabs worker, demands cash

DETECTIVES are still on the hunt for a cheeky attempted robber who threatened a petrol station attendant then stole random items off shelves before fleeing.

The incident took place in August and this week the police made a fresh call for public assistance in identifying the man caught on CCTV footage.

On August 31, shortly after 11pm, a man walked into a Springfield petrol station on Main St, approached the counter and grabbed the attendant by the shirt, demanding cash.

The employee closed the register draw and the man left without cash.

The man - who is described as African in appearance and around 170cms tall - was seen heading into nearby parkland.

No one was physically injured and police investigations are ongoing.

Anyone with information which could assist with this matter should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or 24hrs a day.
