IT IS going to be tough to get all the saltwater out.
Two four-wheel-drives have succumbed to ocean waves, after their owners were caught off-guard by a rising tide.
The local SES at Hamelin Bay in Western Australia swung into action to recover the two vehicles -- one a brand new Nissan Navara, the other thought to be a Toyota Hilux.
The Augusta Margaret River State Emergency Service posted images and video of the incident on Facebook, all of which have now gone viral.
"Unfortunately the tide was a bit higher than it was when the drivers left their vehicles the night before and we couldn't help without putting our own vehicles at risk," it wrote on Facebook.
"Very sad sight to see rolling in the waves (especially since the Navara was only a month old).
"Goes to show that even when you have all the right gear and experience driving on sand you can get caught in the wrong place at the wrong time and it can all go pear shaped."
One Facebook user suggested they might be interested in the shell of the Hilux but likely changed their mind when they saw its current state.
