Schoolie's Hub volunteers build business future

LOCAL businesses are being urged to step up and sponsor the training of a Schoolies Hub volunteer, not only for the good of Byron's civic life, but also as a wise investment in their own business success.

Holiday Letting Organisation president John Gudgeon said his organisation has been behind the Schoolies Hub since its inception seven years ago.

"What we see is visiting schoolies developing a special connection with Byron and coming back for year upon year when they are at uni, when they get married and when they have their kids," he said..

Schoolies Hub coordinator Nicqui Yazdi said that volunteers trained for the Schoolies Hub often also transferred their skills to other vital local volunteer organisations.

Businesses can not only sponsor the training of a volunteer, they can also donate hardware items and basic-level first aid supplies, including band-aids, bandages, dressings, tape, blankets, ice packs and v-bags.
