Vessel rescued at Sandon Bluff

A BOAT that was taking on water four nautical miles off Sandon Bluff has been rescued by a nearby fishing boat.

The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter flew to the location, just north of Grafton, to help search for the 22-foot vessel after it activated its distress beacon at midday today.

However, a nearby fishing boat responded to the beacon and assisted the boat into Sandon River where the beacon was turned off.
