Vehicles burned in separate incidents at Byron and Casino

A MINIBUS has been destroyed by fire and eight vehicles damaged at Byron Bay and a car has been destroyed in a fire at Casino.

The minibus fire, which has been blamed on an electrical fault, happened outside the Arts Factory at Byron Bay on Saturday morning.

Firefighters were called to the Skinners Shoot Rd scene about 9.30am and despite extinguishing the blaze quickly were unable to save the minibus. Fortunately no one was injured.

Then about 1am yesterday, firefighters and police at Casino were called to a car fire at a home at Division Street, Casino.

Firefighters arrived at the home to find the  vehicle completely destroyed by fire with heat damage to an adjacent shed.

Three residents were evacuated from the house and the building ventilated for smoke.

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire last night remained a mystery.
