The unusual way mum uses vibrator to help with breastfeeding

WHEN Danielle saw a post in a mum's group about an effective way to unblock milk ducts while breastfeeding - she didn't hesitate in giving it a go.

"I've had mastitis four times with my nine-month-old son. I had tried everything - heat packs, rubbing it, pumping, hot showers - everything," she tells Kidspot.

And what did the 21-year-old Queensland mum tried?

Why nothing less than a vibrator…

"It didn't hurt to use the vibrator - it was the least painful of everything I had tried before," Danielle explains.

"I am weaning my son at the moment and had blocked ducts for a day before using the vibrator for 10 minutes. I was worried I would get mastitis again but I haven't after that and have used the vibrator again since."

Danielle admits she didn't expect the fabulous hack to work - but knew it would certainly do no harm to just give it a whirl.

"Yes, I was surprised it worked ha, ha!"she laughs.

And the mum-of-two has received a mixed reaction from people when she reveals the magical solution.

"Some people have been surprised when I've told them but some other are not at all."

Danielle wishes she knew about the simple trick when she has her now three-year-old daughter.

"I first got it at 17 weeks pregnant. She was a premmie and I had mastitis a lot - so it was very difficult because it gives you aching muscles and joints, headaches temperatures and flu symptoms."
