UNIVERSITY of Southern Queensland alumni Tim Dashwood will soon share a stage with model and actress Jerry Hall in the Australian theatre production of The Graduate.

Adapted from the critically acclaimed 1967 film starring Dustin Hoffman and Anne Bancroft, the production will star Tim Dashwood as a university graduate who is seduced by an older woman (played by Jerry Hall) before falling in love with her daughter.

Mr Dashwood, who graduated with a USQ theatre degree in 2005, said he was flabbergasted to learn he got the role.

"It was really exciting and a bit of a relief because it was a lengthy audition process and you never know what can happen," he said.

Mr Dashwood said there was a lot to look forward to before the curtains are raised on the show this September.

"Jerry Hall is an incredible woman and the whole cast is phenomenal. It's a little bit daunting to work with so many experienced performers all at once," he said.

"Also, I'm really looking forward to the challenge of such a big role - I'm on stage for most of the play."

Mr Dashwood has already worked extensively in theatre across the country with recent works including Queensland Theatre Company's Romeo and Juliet and Managing Carmen, Queensland Performing Arts Centre's The Last Five Years, and Shake and Stir Theatre Company's Animal Farm.

The Graduate will play at Her Majesty's Theatre, Melbourne, from September 21 for a strictly limited season.
