Union welcomes review into safety of bus drivers

THE union representing Brisbane City Council bus drivers welcomes the fast-tracking of a review into bus safety following the alleged murder of Manmeet Alisher.

The 29-year-old driver was killed when a man allegedly set him alight at Moorooka on Brisbane's south side on Friday.

Anthony Mark Edward O'Donohue has faced court charged with murder, arson and 11 counts of attempted murder.

Transport Minister Stirling Hinchliffe commissioned a review into bus driver safety across Queensland in September which was due in March.

He has now instructed the Acting Director-General of the Department of Transport and Main Roads to bring forward the review as quickly as possible following the tragedy.
