Two police officers shot during protest in Missouri

THERE are reports two police officers have been shot during a protest outside the police department in Ferguson, Missouri.

The town has been a centre of controversy around police power and race relations following the fatal shooting of unarmed teenager Michael Brown, 18, by police officer Darren Wilson on August 9, last year.

On Wednesday night, demonstrators rallied at the police building following the resignation of Ferguson police chief Thomas Jackson over the US Government's report that found widespread racial bias existed in the department.
