AUSTRALIA'S most wanted terrorist Neil Prakash has reportedly been arrested in Turkey.

The ABC reports, counter-terrorism officials have confirmed the Islamic State recruiter was arrested by Turkish officials after a tip off from Australian authorities.

A Turkish official said Australian authorities contacted them saying they had intelligence the Melbourne extremist was planning to enter the country.

He was caught as he tried to cross the Syrian border into Turkey using false documents and a fake name.

However, the ABC says the Australian Government is refusing to officially confirm Prakash's arrest.
