TRUE Blood hunk Joe Manganiello is in the country as Foxtel's special guest for the ASTRA Awards.
The American actor, who plays werewolf Alcide in the hit supernatural drama, is promoting the sixth series of True Blood currently airing on the Showcase channel.
Sitting down for a chat with APN in The Rocks, the 36-year-old said he was happy to be back in the country again after his first visit Down Under in 2005.
"I love it. I'm excited to get to stay a few days to have a vacation," he said.
"I haven't had two days off in a row I don't know for how long."
If things had worked out differently, it might have been Manganiello in Sydney last month promoting the new Man of Steel movie instead of Henry Cavill.
He was in the running for the role, with director Zack Snyder even asking for his measurements from True Blood's costume department for the superman suit.
But Manganiello's commitment to True Blood and scheduling conflicts meant that he wasn't able to vie for the superhero role.
Manganiello said he had no plans to go see the movie, at least not for a while.
"I don't think I'm going to be able to see it," he said.
"It broke my heart because there was nothing I could do; I wasn't allowed to shoot it.
"I think going to watch that movie would be a bit like watching my girlfriend have sex with someone else."
In between shooting seasons of True Blood, Manganiello has been working on a documentary film on a strip club in Dallas, Texas, inspired by his role in Channing Tatum's film Magic Mike.
"When I was doing research for Magic Mike it turned out a really old friend of my was a male stripper at this club in Dallas in the '90s, and the stories he told me and the characters he told me about were too good to be true," he said.
"So I took a crew and went to film and what we found was even better than that.
"What we found was a gold mine."
Manganiello will walk the red carpet at tonight's 11th annual ASTRA Awards at the Sydney Theatre.
