TWO trucks collided head-on killing both drivers in Sydney's southwest this morning.

Just after 5am, a B-Double truck and a car carrier slammed directly into each other on Picton Road, about 5km east of the Hume Highway.

The driver of the B-Double was thrown from the vehicle and the driver of the other vehicle is unaccounted for inside the burning cabin.

Fire brigades were called to the scene to extinguish the fires but were blocked at first by the burning trailer.

Unable to access the scene, they had to double back around and approach from the east, via Macarthur Drive.

Picton Road is completely blocked off by the trailer.
