UPDATE: A truck has collided with a train in Chinchilla on the western Darling Downs.

The collision has occured on Cemetery Rd about 3.30pm.

Police believe the truck failed to give away at the level crossing. The truck's rear trailer clipped the train and overturned.

In the collision the truck also brought down a light post and the exposure of live-wires will likely result in the crossing being closed for several hours as police and Queensland Rail conduct investigations.

"We'll investigate and see if there was any neglect on the part of the driver," Constable Justin Byrne from Chinchilla Police said.

Neither the truck or train driver were hurt in the incident but both have been taken to hospital.

The truck was not carrying a load at the time.

Two fire crews, police and Queensland Ambulance Service crews attended the scene.
