Trifecta win for Byron Bay golfers

Byron Bay Golf Club played host to some fantastic golf with the staging of the 2010 Bank Of Queensland Byron Bay Open and The Northern Rivers District Golf Championships played over 27 holes.

The course was in perfect condition for the competitors, with many players travelling from surrounding clubs to compete in the annual events.

Shane Wilson shot three-under par 69 to record a one-stroke win in the 2010 Bank Of Queensland Byron Bay Open.

A long-time member of the Byron Bay club, Wilson said all the competitors were extremely impressed with the course, especially with the ‘pure’ putting surfaces that were prepared for the day.

Another Byron Bay member, Charles Wright, was crowned the Northern Rivers champion after shooting a three-under par total for 27 holes on Sunday, November 28.

Wright shot an impressive four-under par for the front nine holes (second time around).

Mat Crandell was named Champion of Champion winner, making it a trifecta for Byron Bay members over what was a great weekend of golf.

The Byron Bay Golf Club next plays host to the Schweppes Legends Tournament Players Championship on December 17, 18 and 19.

The Friday and Saturday rounds are played in a pro-am format, with amateur golfers playing alongside PGA legends.

There are spots available still if you would like to play, but be quick as they are filling fast.
