Trail bike rider suffers nasty injury

UPDATE 1.30pm: A man is being airlifted to Gold Coast hospital after a trail bike crash earlier today.

The man is reported to be in a serious condition.

ORIGINAL: THE Westpac rescue chopper is en route to a motorcycle crash near Woodenbong.

It's understood a trail biker rider aged in his mid-30s came off his bike about just after 10am.

An Ambulance NSW spokesman said three ambulances and the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter were tasked to the scene near Grahams Creek Rd.

Paramedics are treating the injured man now.

"We're still trying to assess the exact injury at the moment," the spokesman said.

The biker is believed to have suffering nasty ankle injury certainly involving multiple fractures.

"Apparently this was part of some sort of motorcycle event."

Today's incident follows a similar trail bike crash in Woodenbong yesterday, when a 30-year-old man came off his bike and fell down a three meter gully into a creek.

The man was flown to hospital after being retrieved by Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter who were called to the scene at 11.40am yesterday.   The patient was treated for multiple injuries.
