Tuscany to Umbria

A FULLY escorted small group tour to Tuscany and Umbria in September this year is truly unique in that in three weeks guests stay in just three regional centres, taking daily tours from these to major cities and larger country towns, and becoming so much part of the local scene that cafe owners in the towns in which they stay know just how they like their coffee, their meals cooked – and typically Italian, want to know all about their families back home.

And along the way participants will be regaled with stories as diverse as the region’s history, gastronomy, myths and the arts, as they visit places made famous by St Francis the Patron Saint of Italy, Puccini, Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci, taste wines with the makers in their cellars and chocolates with the chocolatiers, visit the home-town of the author of Under The Tuscan Sun, see where the recent movie Letters to Juliet was filmed… and even walk Italy’s most bizarre street that is just 50cm wide, and such a squeeze when two people meet that it is aptly-named “Woman Kisser Lane.”

This captivating three week tour also includes a farm stay, train and coach touring throughout Tuscany and Umbria, a funicular ride, cable car ride, and a visit to a cathedral whose marble floor took 200 years to lay.

The tour departs Rome on September 23 this year and is priced from $7495pp twin-share (single supplement $995;) this includes pick-up at Rome and return to Rome, 21-nights accommodation, all breakfasts, most dinners, one lunch with wine, day touring and full-time Australian and local escorts.
