Titans sweating on halves pairing

RUGBY LEAGUE: Inspirational Gold Coast Titans halfback Albert Kelly could play in Saturday night's showcase match against South Sydney despite having a hairline crack in his fibula.

Titans coach John Cartwright is sweating on the availability of both Kelly and halves partner Aiden Sezer who was ruled out of Sunday's City v Country NSW Origin trial in Dubbo after injuring his ankle in the previous week's 22-6 win against Wests Tigers.

Cartwright is expected to name the pair today to take on the Rabbitohs and monitor their progress during the week.

The good news for Cartwright is that both forward leader Luke Bailey (ankle) and fullback William Zillman (hamstring) are very close to returning from injury which would help with any selection reshuffle.

Zillman can play five-eighth, as can half candidate Beau Henry who was voted man-of-the-match for the Tweed Seagulls in their QCup win over Burleigh on the weekend. Veteran forward utility Ashley Harrison can also fill in at five-eighth if needed. In further welcome news for the Titans, hooker Matt Srama played his second game off the bench for the Seagulls on the weekend after a shoulder reconstruction and should be available for selection in coming weeks.
