Time to put Tony Abbott out of his political misery

Has the Country seen enough yet?

Tony Abbott is in a downward spiral which can only be stopped by his caucus colleagues. These LNP men and women of the Federal Parliament must surely see that now is the time to put the man out of his political misery. And us out of ours.

As Prime Minister of Australia for over 14 months now, Tony Abbott has not done one positive thing of note.

He gained the job on the back of three word slogans based on negativity. You would hope that in Government, he would have kept the promises he made in the last week of the election campaign. "Unity ticket on Gonski, no cuts to the ABC,SBS, pensions or medicare" he said. Yeah, right.

With his Treasurer, he drafted the most inequitable and heartless budget of all time which after six months he still can't get passed. He has tried to introduce cuts to the sick, the elderly, students and families whilst cutting the tax of big business through the Mining and Carbon taxes.

He has decimated the NBN, cut the CSIRO to the bone and is trying to kill off the Renewable Energy sector. With other major Countries talking up renewable energy targets, Australia was well positioned to benefit from growth in this sector. Great foresight there Mr. Abbott.

With the G20 in Australia, Tony Abbott had a great opportunity to get some positive press and lift his standing. Instead he has used a poor turn of phrase to insult the Russian President and was slapped down in speeches made by David Cameron and Barack Obama. He then went on a stuttering and whiny diatribe lamenting that Australians don't appreciate being lied to and screwed over.

On the World stage with the opportunity to be statesman-like, Tony Abbott has proven to be anything but.

Of course people who align with my point of view said this all along. The dyed in the wool LNP types know it too, but won't admit it. They change the direction of the conversion with diversionary comments, but the people who matter in the LNP must surely recognise that his time is up.

He may have been an effective Opposition leader, perhaps too effective, but he is an unworthy Prime Minister and a very poor representative of positive leadership in our Country.
