Time to get behind the Voice of Nina

NINA BAUMER is now the local to support in this year's The Voice TV competition.

The 18-year-old from Stokers Siding is part of Team Delta and is now facing a tough battle to get through the next couple of rounds.

Although very young, Nina is certain on the direction she wants to take in the music industry.

"I am very focused on pop and funk, but because of my classical training I am very diverse in the genres I can explore," she said.

"I do a lot of classical music and operas, but mainly pop, funk and rock.

"I have always wanted to be recording in a studio, but I am also looking at television presenting. I'd love to do that and get into TV."

Besides the outcome of her experience in The Voice, Nina is thinking of what other options are available to her in the near future in music.

"The music industry fluctuates so much that, just as a back up, I am also looking at universities, but I would prefer to just jump into the music industry," she said.

Nina credits her parents for her love for music.

"I was born to Bob Marley apparently," she said.

"At home I grew up listening to blues, rock, jazz and opera.

"I started classical training when I was very young because I was interested in music.

"I play piano and saxophone, but now I am really focused on a career as a singer."
