Tigers hold on to edge out Blues

RICHMOND survived a late onslaught from Carlton to post a thrilling five-point win and spoil Mick Malthouse's debut as Blues coach at the MCG.

The Tigers triumphed 14.22 (106) to 14.17 (101), having led by six goals at the final change before the Blues fought back.

The Blues were within four points of their opponents inside the final minute of play but the Tigers provided the final score of the contest with a behind just before the full-time siren.

Brett Deledio and Tyrone Vickery led the goal kicking for the Tigers with three each, while Jake King and Luke McGuane added doubles.

Tigers captain Trent Cotchin topped their disposal count with 33 touches and Shane Tuck added 27.
