UPDATE: A ROCKHAMPTON grandfather, 79, is recovering from the physical and emotional scars of a vicious beating after three thugs attacked him on Thursday night.
Those three thugs - police believe they are a woman and two men - are still wanted in relation to the vicious assault.
A police media spokesman said the three offenders approached the man from behind and assaulted him while he was walking.
Detective Senior Constable Mick Logan yesterday described the incident as a random, unprovoked attack.
The attack took place in Ferguson St, near the Southside cemetery, between 8pm and 8.30pm.
The victim fell to the ground and sustained a broken rib and cuts to multiple body parts, including around his eyes and on his face and arms.
The spokesman said the victim walked home after the attack, before he was transported to Rockhampton Hospital.
He was released from hospital yesterday.

9.30am: ROCKHAMPTON Police and the members of the public are pleading for help to find three ruthless offenders who attacked a 79-year-old man last night.

The victim fell to the ground and sustained lacerations to parts of his body, including his eyes and face.
The offenders fled from the scene.
The spokesman says the victim has then walked home after the attack, before he was transported to Rockhampton Hospital.
It is understood the man sustained several broken ribs.
He is in a stable condition.
At this stage, police media say the offenders have not been arrested.
