Beers and shears: have we found the perfect haircut mix?

THERE exists an internal quarrel in almost every man's head when its fringed cladding begins to take on the look and texture of a mop.

"It's not that bad yet... I can go a while longer," he thinks.

"I wish it was still the '70s."

And so another week passes and another haircut is avoided - much to the annoyance of his long-suffering womenfolk.

A Toowoomba barbershop has stumbled upon the solution, something both sides of the gender divide can finally agree upon.

It is cold, delicious beer.

The staff at Klippt are offering a free bottle of the good stuff to every (adult) bloke who finally cracks and recognises he has a haircut problem.

They have handed out their first carton of frost-tops since starting the campaign a fortnight ago, and word is quickly getting out.

Toowoomba man Matt Bingham, could not believe his ears when he learned of the new scheme.

He quickly settled into the Hooper Centre barber's chair for a snip and a quick tipple.

"I've heard about women having champagne while they get their hair done, but I've never heard of beer being involved," he thirstily said.

Never has man had a better excuse for a beer, or better motivation to break the haircut drought...

Hairdressers Ashleigh Gordon and Amanda Beth said the feedback was exactly as one might expect.

"Their reactions have been really surprised and happy - they just light up," Ms Beth said.

"We like to look after our clients," added Ms Gordon.

"We also have tea and coffee and juice or lemonade for the kids."
