The tastes of Japan in Federal

AFTER months of renovations and the closure of the town's only restaurant, Federal Doma Cafe has finally opened in the village.

And the locals couldn't be happier.

Former Oh Sushi chefs from Byron Bay, Takayuki and Takashi, who also create mouth-watering cuisine at the Mullumbimby Farmers Market, have transformed the historic space next door to the general store with a rustic, country makeover.

There's ample outdoor seating and a traditional Japanese doma room, which features a low-slung table and floor seating.

The cafe is open 7.30am to 4pm Saturday to Thursday.

It is located on Federal Road.
