Tennis pro charged with 2013 game fix

A FORMER professional tennis played has been charged with throwing a match played at a Toowoomba tennis tournament.

Police charged Nick Lindahl, 26, after investigating match fixing and corrupt betting on a game played at the Hutchinson Builders Toowoomba International in September 2013.

It will be alleged that Lindahl intentionally lost a match, while another person successfully bet on the match outcome.

Unusual betting was detected by a betting agency and reported to authorities.

Inquiries had been conducted by the Tennis Integrity Unit and Victoria Police, before being referred to the New South Wales Police Force for further investigation.

Officers on Thursday raided a Sydney home and charged Lindahl with four offences.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on March 12.
