Teens shot in face in paintball attack: charges laid

UPDATE 10.30am: Two men have been charged after two teenage boys were shot in the face while trick-or-treating last night.

Police said the 15-year-old boys were walking along the Pelican Waters Blvd about 7.15pm when paint pellets were fired from a passing car, striking one in the eye and the other in the cheek. 

The boy with the eye injury was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition 

One of the boys was struck near his eye and was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital and the other was struck on the cheek.

A 17-year-old Little Mountain man and 18-year-old Pelican Waters have been charged with two counts each of assault occasioning bodily harm.

Both men are due to appear at the Caloundra Magistrates Court on November 22.

EARLIER 7.30am: A teenage boy has been shot in the eye after a night of Halloween trick-or-treating in a Sunshine Coast street went horribly wrong.

The teenager and another boy, both believed to be about 15 years old, were struck as they walked down Pelican Waters Blvd yesterday as part of a larger group.

Police allege two young men, aged 17 and 18, drove down the street past the group, with one of the men shooting a paintball gun at the younger teenagers.

One of the victims was hit in the eye, with paramedics called to the scene.

The boy was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

The 17-year-old and 18-year-old men were taken into custody and have since been charged, issued with notices to appear in court and released.
