Teddy bears come out to picnic

Lilli Farrell (left) and Shani Lloyd, pictured here with Mamma and Poppa Bear, were two of the 200 or so children to enjoy all the fun and games at last Saturday’s Teddy Bears’ Picnic at Brunswick Heads.

The event was organised by the Eastgate Christian City Church of Byron Bay to give families a fun day out as well as raise money to help rehabilitate former child soldiers in a purpose-built village in north Uganda.

“The aim is to give hope to these traumatised kids,” said Mandi Yules, one of the co-ordinators of the event.

She estimates the day raised around $1000.
