Tate to saddle up for another year with Cowboys

COWBOYS outside back Brent Tate was compared to a cactus by his brother-in-law and former Maroons representative Steve Price before notching up his 200th first-grade game last year.

That is because Tate has overcome a whole range of career-threatening injuries.

And at 32, the Queensland and Australian representative believes more milestones are still to come, following the signing of a one-year contract extension yesterday, until the end of 2015.

That will open up the chance for him to reach a century of matches for the Cowboys - and 250 in total - in what will be his 15th season, and possibly last, of what could be the last of a decorated career.

"I've really loved my time in North Queensland so it's great that I'll be able to stay here at the Cowboys for at least another season and a half," Tate said. "I think I still have plenty to offer the club."
