Taking time out for lunch with Liz Ellis

FORMER Australian netball captain Liz Ellis will be the guest speaker at the AFL Northern Rivers Juniors Women in Football luncheon next week.

The afternoon will celebrate the contribution women have made in AFL and in sport in general.

It will be held at the Fig Tree Restaurant in Byron Bay on Friday, August 9, starting at noon.

Ellis, who now lives on the Northern Rivers, knows the importance of junior sport and is a proud advocate and role model for female involvement.

"While we are confident the luncheon will be fun and a great chance to socialise with like-minded folk, it will also be an important opportunity to recognise and respect the place of women in AFL," Northern Rivers Juniors president Bob Lodge said

"It's also about the place of women in sport and encouraging sport for juniors, boys and girls."

The afternoon will include the announcement of AFL Northern Rivers Juniors' Club Woman of the Year award.
