Boy and Bear touring country

IN their biggest tour yet, the Sydney five-piece Boy and Bear will step on to the stage in each state to celebrate the release of their third single Blood To Gold.

Since the band's dulcet tones first hypnotised listeners across the radio waves in February 2009, Boy and Bear have found themselves in the spotlight.

Their single Mexican Mavis had the industry whispering and music fans clambering. However, it wasn't until the single earned the quintet the triple J Unearthed gong (landing them a spot on Homebake's stage) that just how much of a gem this band was became apparent.

Rumours of their live show quickly spread as Boy and Bear found themselves touring with the royalty of folk rock, Angus and Julia Stone, Mumford and Sons and Laura Marling throughout Australia.

But it is their live show that takes the band to another plane. The songs presented on the debut EP With Emperor Antarctica pack a bigger punch when taken to the live forum.

The honesty in each member's voice is heightened, the emotion makes chests swell and the story in each song resonates somewhere between the heart and stomach.

Catch them when they perform at Byron Bay's Great Northern Hotel tonight. Tickets available from www.oztix.com.au or phone 1300 762 545, or at the Currumbin RSL Sound Lounge tomorrow night.

Tickets available from www.thesoundlounge.com.au.
