Suns boss says drugs policy needs overhaul
GOLD Coast Suns chief executive Andrew Travis said the AFL's three-strike policy over illicit drugs needed looking at following explosive drug use claims by former player Karmichael Hunt.
Asked if the AFL's stance on drugs needed to be addressed, Travis said: "The policy has been in existence for a while now and it's probably due for some sort of refreshment."
In an effort to reduce his penalty for cocaine use, Hunt reportedly gave names of those he said were involved in drug use to police, with some believed to be former or current Suns players.
Travis said the club would issue letters to both Hunt's lawyer and News Corp seeking statements that were attributed to Hunt in a weekend newspaper article.
He also said the club would begin interviewing players about the drugs accusations sometime this week.
