AFTER more than two years of fundraising, Brunswick Heads Public School cut the ribbon on its brand new 47ft community-built adventure boat playground last week.

"Over 750 hours of volunteer work went into building the playground in the summer holidays, so it was very satisfying to see such wide smiles on the kids' faces as they returned to school," P&C president Katrina Hughes said.

"It has been a massive process, involving the students, teachers, parents and wider community and the new adventure boat is the centrepiece of the playground, representing our connection to the water and our school logo which features an old fishing trawler."

With stage one now complete, the school will be continuing to raise more funds this year for stage two, beginning with the annual community trivia night at the Brunswick Heads Memorial on Saturday March 7.

"I am so proud of what we've achieved and need to thank so many people including our amazing co-ordinator extraordinaire Renee Gordos, our builder Rob Winter and architect Zac Tooth for their incredible contributions," she said.

Many local businesses assisted the school with generous donations including J & M Bashforth & Sons, Brunswick Heads Bobcat Hire, Dulux who donated 29L of paint, Mitre 10 Byron Bay, Byron Bay Building Materials, B & B Timbers, GoGrow, True Value Ocean Shores, Brunswick Heads Bakery, Blair's Tree Care, Mullumbimby Reliable Removals.

"We also need to thank the Hotel Brunswick who've supported our fundraising efforts and the Brunswick Heads shops and business community who've donated to our trivia nights and fairs over the years and helped make this all possible."
