Stuck at Julian Rocks for night after vessel springs leak

A BOATIE had to spend the night moored at Julian Rocks in Byron Bay after his vessel got into trouble crossing the Brunswick bar.

In a statement, NSW Police media said the skipper of the 5.2m runabout called for help about 11.40pm yesterday, saying his boat had started taking on water after crossing the bar.

The skipper was sent south to Julian Rocks, where he tied up at one of the dive boat moorings there while waiting for help.

After a cold night for the boatie and his crew, Southport Water Police along with a Marine Rescue vessel arrived about 5.20am this morning to tow the boat back to Brunswick Heads and back across the bar.
