BLUES

Josh Dugan - Regularly chimed into his team's backline plays to threaten the Maroons' defence. Solid at the back off Cronk's big and dangerous clearances. 7½

Brett Morris - Linked up well with club teammate Dugan and ran the ball back strongly. 6

Michael Jennings - Enthralling battle with Hodges. A threat at times, and some brilliant last-ditch tackles. 6½

Josh Morris - Should have had a try but was denied by a quick-thinking Darius Boyd and his fingertip. 6½

James McManus - Scored a first-half try and should have had one earlier, but for some desperate Maroons defence. But made a crucial unforced error off a kick in the second half. 5½

James Maloney - Looked the more likely out of the Blues' halves to create a try. 6½

Mitchell Pearce - Could this game have been his last in Blues colours? Went missing in the second half when his team needed the big play. 5

Aaron Woods - Stronger start than game one. Looked more comfortable this time but did not have the same impact as injured skipper Paul Gallen. 5 1/2.

Robbie Farah - Organised his attack well and kicked nicely when called upon. 6 ½

James Tamou - Tried hard for 89m and 27 tackles, but had better games in the blue jumper last year. 5 ½

Ryan Hoffman - Some threatening runs on the Blues' left edge and gained 122m. 7

Luke Lewis - Tear in calf, and quieter than usual before that. 4 ½

Greg Bird - Good footwork and tireless as usual. 7

Andrew Fifita - Absolutely brilliant. Enormous workrate, and impressive footwork and offloading. 8

Trent Merrin - Scored good try after 71 minutes, pushing off the reliable Corey Parker. 6 ½

Boyd Cordner - Brought some starch off the bench after thrust into the game well into the second half. 5

Anthony Watmough - Brought some much-needed energy and go-forward to his team after coming on after 20 minutes. Superb. 8 ½

MAROONS

Billy Slater - Strong kick returns and takes. 7

Darius Boyd - Regularly chimed in off the left wing to take some important metres, and threatened in attack at times. 7 ½

Greg Inglis - Quieter than usual, but did his job well. 6

Justin Hodges - This veteran rose to the big occasion once again, scoring a crucial try after an hour. 7 ½

Brent Tate - Solid once again in possibly his last Origin game. Tremendous courage to put his hand up and take bombs. 7 ½

Johnathan Thurston - Constant danger in attack. 7 ½

Cooper Cronk - Ever a threat with his pinpoint kicking game. Brilliant pass for Hodges' try. 8

Matt Scott - Unbelievable effort in attack and defence. Always there to take the tough hit-up when needed. 8 ½

Cameron Smith - Solid in defence and at dummy-half as usual. 8 ½

Nate Myles - Super tough in both attack and defence once again. 7½

Chris McQueen - Didn't look out of place in his first series decider. 7

Sam Thaiday - Attracted defenders constantly with the ball, defended strongly. 7

Corey Parker - Another solid match with 146m gain and 35 tackles. 7 ½

Daly Cherry-Evans - Tremendous impact after coming on near the hour mark. 6 ½

Ben Te'o - Produced 20 tackles after coming on from the bench. 5 ½

Matt Gillett - Great effort in defence with 30 tackles. 6

Josh Papalii - Good impact after coming on. Player of the future. 6
