AN INVESTIGATION is under way after four men broke into and robbed a club in Macksville last night.

Two staff members were closing down the club on Cooper St at 10pm when the four men smashed into the rear glass doors.

Police said two of the men were carrying knives.

They then proceeded to force a 60-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman into the office area where they demanded access to the safe and stole an amount of cash.

The woman's purse, which contained her mobile phone, was also stolen, police said.

The men were last seen running down Princess St wearing gloves and balaclavas.

Investigators are urging anyone who may have information on the robbery to contact the Kempsey Police Station on 6561 6199, or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
