St Finbarr’s come home from carnival with title

The senior rugby league team of Byron Bay’s St Finbarr’s Primary School won the Open B division of the 2009 Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League Carnival held at Casino last Thursday.

After winning their four qualifying matches, they faced Goonellabah in the final.

Despite a few knocks and bruises, the team pulled together and gave it all they got to win 5-4. The match was a very tight and nail-biting game from start to finish.

The boys were coached by teacher, Kerry Wills. Lewin Maladay was named player of the match.
