Sexy and sophisticated Audi TT Roadster arrives

GOING topless in Audi's new TT will cost you an extra $3500 over the coupe. The Audi TT Roadster is available now priced from $81,500 for the Sport model.

S Line variants start from $89,000.

The attractive two-seater rag-top was officially launched at Lorne on Victoria's Ocean Road this week, with only one drivetrain combination - a 169kW/370Nm turbocharged four-cylinder mated to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Audi product planner Peter Strudwicke said this combination had proven to be the most popular with drivers previously, hence the decision to stick with the one option before a more hardcore TTS arrives later this year.

Audi says there is about $8000 worth of extra equipment compared to the outgoing equivalents despite having the same sticker price.

BEAUTY EXPOSED: As standard, TT Roadster owners receive heated electric seats with leather and alcantara trim; ideal for winter top-down motoring.

Standard items include 18-inch alloys, heated electric seats with leather and alcantara trim, front and rear parking sensors, sat nav, hands free system for Apple and Android devices, climate controlled air con and cruise control.

The S Line models get a full body kit, larger 19-inch alloys, full LED headlights, sports seats, glossy grille, brushed aluminium cabin finishes and a 155 watt nine speaker stereo system.

"The design is sophisticated and classically Audi with its convertible soft top; the virtual cockpit demonstrates our progressive technology, and now our new Roadster line-up offers an all-quattro approach - highlighting the focus on sporty dynamics and driver enjoyment," Audi Australia managing director Andrew Doyle said.

"Like the Coupe, the new TT Roadster sets a benchmark in its segment for its use of progressive technology, with the Audi virtual cockpit, the outstanding ergonomics of the interior and of course, the exceptional quality of finish.

"The ability to offer our customers such a talented and distinctive drop-top sports car certainly adds to the desirability of the Audi brand. As a fast-growing premium brand, it's important that we are able to deliver the ideal vehicle to fulfil the needs of our owners, whatever they may be."

RAG-TOP LINE-UP: TT Roadster takes on BMW Z4 and Mercedes SLK. TTS arriving later may even set its sights on Porsche Boxster shoppers.
