Byron Bay’s Division 3 and Division 1 A Reserve teams are celebrating a successful season.
Both teams were minor premiers and both teams advanced straight to the grand final after winning their semi-final play-off games.
With only 17 players many of the Division 3 girls played up each week to make up the numbers in the Division 1 side.
In the recent grand finals the Division 3 girls finished runners up and the Division 1 A Reserve girls took out the major premiership.
Grand final reports:
Div 3 Byron Bay Redsox v Casino Ratbags
1st Innings Safe outfield hits from Simmone Reaney and Annalies Melene scored one run in Redsox first bat. Casino were then kept scoreless.
2nd Innings Mary Juhasz showed great speed getting to first base after a dropped third strike was called on her. Jess Bond hit out safely to centrefield to score the runner before the innings ended. Ratbags were again kept scoreless.
3rd Innings Ratbags then fought back in the field to keep Redsox scoreless and went on to score two runs through good hits evening the score at two all.
4th Innings Tight fielding then kept Redsox scoreless while Ratbags dug deep with the bat to score two more runs.
Ratbags came back to score eight runs to take the game 12 - 3.
Division 1 A-Reserve Byron Bay Whitesox v Casino Ratpack
1st Innings Ratpack batted first and but were kept scoreless leaving three runners on base.
Whitesox went on to score two runs through safe hits by Tracey Johnson, Di West and a three bagger by Lyn King.
2nd Innings Tight fielding by both teams then saw both Whitesox and Ratpack unable to score with their next bat.
Ratpack unable to score again while Whitesox came back with safe hits again by Tracey Johnson and Lyn King to score two more runs.
4th Innings Good batting saw Ratpack get runners on base and in scoring postions but they couldn’t convert.
Good safe batting by Jess Bond, Simmone Reaney and Annalies Melene saw Whitesox score two more runs.
5th Innings Ratpack score their only run in their last bat. Good batting loaded their bases but Whitesox shortstop Jess Bond and third base Tracey Johnson combined to pick off the lead runner and Shannon Knapp took a great catch and then combined with catcher Simmone Reaney to make the out at home and end the game. Final score 6-1 Whitesox way.
