Sia's music video features a new young star

SIA has released the video for Alive, the first single from her upcoming album This Is Acting.

True to form, the video doesn't actually feature the reluctant Australian pop star but instead features a young girl performing martial arts wearing a Sia-style bobbed wig.

In the video directed by Sia and Daniel Askill, the young martial arts expert, who has yet to be named, performs her routine in a sparse, concrete room in an abandoned building.

Sia and Askill also created the award-winning Chandelier video featuring dancer Maddie Ziegler.

The Australian singer-songwriter has famously employed the talents of others to perform in her videos, for live performances and also while accepting awards on her behalf, including Ziegler, Girls creator Lena Dunham and Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz.

Now, all the songs on the This Is Acting record are written from the perspective of different music stars.

Grammy winner Adele co-wrote Alive with Sia. The tune was originally planned to go on the British singer's highly-anticipated album, 25, but was rejected at the last minute.

"I'm calling it This Is Acting because they are songs I was writing for other people, so I didn't go in thinking 'this is something I would say'. It's more like play-acting. It's fun," Sia told NME earlier this year.

The singer dropped Bird Set Free - the second song from her upcoming album - this week.

This Is Acting will be released on January 29.
