Showground may have to go to Federal Govt

THE Mackay Show Association has saved about $300,000 in developing the showground, which may have to be returned to the Federal Government.

In an announcement earlier today, Member for Dawson George Christensen said the association wasn't allowed to use the remaining funds to complete the needed upgrade on the 500 Pavilion because it wasn't in their scope of works.

However, he said if the LNP is elected next weekend, they would allow the association to use the remaining $300,000 to complete the pavilion.
