Shorts from the world screen this week in Mullum

Flickerfest returns for it's 19th year screening short films from the Northern Rivers, Australia and the world in Mullumbimby.

Highlights of Flickerfest 2017 include:

  • Opening Night Party: Friday, January 27, 7.30pm.


  • Best Of International 1 Shorts: Friday, January 27, 8.30pm


Following the Opening Party, Flickerfest is thrilled to present its Best Of International 1 Shorts programme, a selection of film gems from their Academy Accredited Sydney competition.

Highlights include the moving and insightful Nocturne In Black from Lebanon. In this film, a musician from a war-ravaged Middle Eastern neighbourhood struggles to rebuild his piano after it is destroyed by Jihadists.

The evening will also include Timecode from Spain.

In this film, Luna and Diego are parking lot security guards.

Diego does the night shift, and Luna works by day, will they ever meet?

Finally, The Head Vanishes will offers a French Canadian animation where Jacqueline, who has lost her mind a bit, she decides to take a trip to the seaside.

All three films are shortlisted for the 2017 Academy Awards.
