Shocking domestic: 'He made me perform a sex act on a dog'

A BRAVE survivor of domestic violence has recalled the harrowing "week of hell" she was subjected to by her jealous boyfriend during which he injected her with heroin, raped her and forced her to perform a sex act on his dog.

Evil Justin Mustafa, 27, was convinced girlfriend Gabbe Rowland had cheated on him while he was in prison when she told him she was pregnant with their baby.

Then one morning in June 2013 he began a week of torture by forcing her to take drugs before beating her with a belt and filming her as he forced her into performing degrading sexual acts.

Gabbe, from Cape Cod, in the US state of Massachusetts, eventually managed to escape and reported Mustafa to the police.

He was given a six-year prison sentence and Gabbe waived her right to anonymity to share her story.

Gabbe told how she reconnected with Mustafa, whom she'd known at school, on Facebook in 2010.

The couple began dating in September 2011 and Gabbe admitted she was "head over heels".

But one day, Mustafa revealed he was soon due to appear in court.

"He told me an ex-girlfriend had accused him of filming her naked without her consent," she said.

"He denied it was true, explaining they had made a sex tape together, and when they broke up she was so angry she went to the police and made up a story.

"I don't know if I was blinded by my feelings, but I was impressed with such honesty. I vowed to support him because I believed him."

Mustafa was jailed for a year. Furious at what she believed to be a serious injustice Gabbe wrote to him every day and visited twice a week.

Not long after he was released in January 2013 Gabbe discovered she was pregnant.

She explained: "At first Justin was pleased, but then he turned on me and started accusing me of all sorts of stupid things.

"He said I was unfaithful when he was in prison and even asked me to have an abortion, but I wouldn't hear it."

One night, after a furious row during which he called her a "little whore", Gabbe packed her stuff and left at 4am to stay with a friend.

She recalled: "Later he got in touch with me again, told me how sorry he was, but sadly I miscarried our baby, probably with all the stress of what was happening.

"I was devastated because, no matter what, I wanted this baby. Somehow we got back together again but things were never the same - there was bickering, jealousy and fighting often."

Fed up with Mustafa's temper and accusations, Gabbe left him in May 2013.

She told how he bombarded her with texts and threatened to "throw boulders through the window" if she didn't speak to him.

Eventually Mustafa wormed his way back in when Gabbe suspected she was pregnant again.

She admitted: "I look back and I still can't believe I was so stupid but he was the best he had ever been. He was back to being the guy I fell in love with."

But their bubble burst when Gabbe discovered she wasn't actually pregnant.

"It was June 29 and he picked me up from work," she recalled.

"He was like a different person again. He pulled me by the hair and accused me of cheating. I was screaming and crying and wouldn't admit to anything.

"The next day he picked me up from a friend's and I thought we would go off to talk. Instead, he pulled into a quiet place in the car and said, 'Give me your arm and make a fist!'

"Horrified, I pulled away because I knew exactly what he wanted me to do.

"I knew that Justin had taken heroin at various times in our relationship but he had always hidden it well, so there were times when I thought he had quit or he had the problem under control.

"It was obvious he hadn't. He quickly pushed a vial of heroin into my arm and I was powerless - it happened so quickly and I was so afraid of what he might do if I pulled away.

"I have never taken drugs in my life so this heroin affected me horribly. I felt so sick and I started nodding off because I felt so out of it - it was such an awful feeling.

"I remember thinking how happy Justin seemed that I had taken the heroin. Over the next six days, he injected me once or twice a day that I remember."

Gabbe told how she would often throw up not long after being injected and Mustafa would keep her clothes in his car so that she would throw up on them.

"I felt that this was his way of keeping me down, of humiliating me," she said.

Gabbe told how one day Mustafa drove to a wood and made her pull her pants down and bend over so he could beat her with a belt and rape her.

She recalled: "I begged him to stop, crying in so much pain, but he ignored my cries and kept hitting me."

Another day, around 2am, he ordered her to undress and brought his pet pitbull into the room.

He then told her to "give the dog oral sex" while he filmed her.

"That was one of the most degrading things he made me do," said Gabbe.

"I felt so physically sick after and so horrified in myself.

"After that he told me to go into the bathroom, clean my teeth and go back to give him oral sex."

On July 5 Gabbe managed to make it into work and her boss took her to one side, concerned about her bruises.

Gabbe then broke down and confessed what had happened.

She agreed to leave Mustafa and sought refuge in a shelter after going to the police and pressing charges.

"I knew that I had to do it otherwise I would live in fear of Justin for the rest of my life," she explained.

"I never took heroin again and I was lucky, I suppose, that ultimately I didn't become an addict."

In March 2014, Mustafa was found guilty of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, malicious destruction of property and witness intimidation and was given a six-year sentence.

Gabbe said: "I was relieved but I think the sentence should have been longer.

"He tortured me for a week. He could easily have killed me with the heroin or he could have beaten me to death as he promised he would.

"I'm now in a much better place. I've got a great job working in a doctor's office and I speak about my experiences often to help other women in terrifying domestic violence situations.

"I wish I had left him many times but I didn't because I always thought things would work out and there was always the threats that he would hurt me."
